Favorite renewed acquaintance with an old-fashioned word, ever : "twaddle," in the midst of beautifully biting satire on the BS atmosphere of ancient wizard solemnity at SCOTUS. A fittingly ridiculous term for a ridiculous situation.
They tax to the plaintiff the entire court award that a plaintiff receives for non-bodily injury even though part of it goes directly to the attorney, in spite of the plaintiff never having constructive receipt of the attorney's portion. So the constructive receipt issue shouldn't apply here either.
Sounds like the Moores didn't pay their SCOTUS tax. Bummer for them.
I wish I had any faith in this corrupt court
Serious question: what will be required to remove Alito and Thomas from the court? By any reasonable standard, both are illegitimate and should have been gone some time ago.
If you think taxing wealth is going to hurt the rich, you are wrong.
Taxation on wealth is only going to hurt the middle class, homeowners, highly educated, car owners, etc.
I can’t wait until you have to pay tax on your home equity. I can’t wait until you have to pay tax on the value of your car. I can’t wait until you have to add up the value of all your property, furniture, electronics, and pay tax on that every year. I can’t wait until you have to add up the value of all your knowledge, degrees and experience and pay tax on that every year.
(You will say, “oh don’t be so extreme, this is just billionaires”…. It’s never just billionaires. Give the government authority to overreach and they will keep overreaching)
