I love how the director gets his facts mixed up; it's been illegal since 1986 to make new machine guns for civilian use due to the FOPA and the Hughes Amendment. 1934 brought the NFA which restricted and slowed down the use of machine guns, not ban new makes. Any machine gun lawfully registered prior to the May 1986 ban you can possess so long as you pass a 4473 form (background check), pay the $200 tax stamp and wait 7-10 months or more while it transfers on a Form 4.

Do you have a small piece of sturdy metal? Do you have a glock? Then put that small piece of metal on the base plate, angle the metal to depress the sear and BOOM! Full auto. Like the 3rd hole for AR receivers, it takes more know how with converting an AR, but the same concept applies. Which is why if you buy a colt AR it'll have a bar in the lower receiver, making it very hard to modify the gun to full auto. It can be done, but it's a lot more work.
