I didn't think it was possible but this has taken me to a new level of disillusionment. Our legal system is one where you have to know the magic passcode to have rights and then maybe if you're trying the right color and gender and class and whatever else, you'll have rights, but then if they can still get away with it and want a power trip, you have none and little if any recourse. DNever use the phrase "am I free to go?" This leaves ambiguity up to the officer. Always use the phrase "am I being detained". That phrase implies the legal maxim exclusio alterius (expression of one excludes all others) therefore there can be no ambiguity as to whether you are free to go…
Else an officer can simply answer no to your question of am I free to go but leave it up in the air as to whether or not you're being detained. It is true that the opposite may be true and it may seem like I'm splitting hairs here but think about it for a moment and it would be clear and much more firm in the implications of it's statement.

Honestly there a reason why police are so negatively viewed they are literally almost always that guy you can tell beats his wife hence their much higher spousal abuse rate then you have people who justify their BS well it's a hard job and they see so much, boohoo, etc, well how about the people who have lived in these hells and did not accept a job in the field but are so severely judged. I have no record and have been stopped several times and rights completely abused even when my son who was only ten at time was with me and which I have custody in a mother state lol I gotta be horrible. I got a dash cam for cops only and I have been stopped since. American police are the only former in the world that uses low profile lights and tactics because there's just too much money in the private prison sector and just like big pharma they won't let that go. Our country don't talk about it but there's several countries that try to give us advice on better policies and yes their crime is tremendously lower but slavery makes money and it's documented that there's more slaves in modern history than ever recorded.
