Trump is currently promising to pardon all Jan 6 insurrectionists. If that's not "giving aid and comfort" to insurrectionists, I don't know what is? The President is explicitly called an "officer" 35 times in the main body of the Constitution. Just because he's not numerated in the Amendment is moot, as it does not say it excludes him.

I am not an American, and from the outsider's point of view, I think the 14th Amendment just applies SO PERFECTLY to current situation. It seems like the Amendment itself is designed with these kind of situations in mind.
