I don't consider someone who got in trouble for financial crime to be a danger to anyone, anyone could get charged for not knowing they needed to pay taxes; so this is only a control tactic used by the Gov't to disarm the citizenry.

Considering identity theft…you could lose your rights over someone stealing your identity..even a bank error, confusing two different accounts because they have the same name- my bank kept depositing another person's paycheck into my account ..they had excact same name as mine…birth date, account number different..Address different..but the bank kept doing it for 4 months after being made aware of a month after I noticed
..because the bank messed up, I got caught up in their bad credit🤦♀️ and harrassed for debt not mine for 6 years..
I am mixed on the subject and it should be a one on one basis.
Crossing the US border is a felony but some states allow illegal border crossers to vote in local elections. Why would you not allow a legal US citizen convicted of a nonviolent felony to reclaim their 2nd right and their right to vote.

The problem I see is that there's no clear line between "violent" and "non-violent" crimes on the basis of "dangerousness". Is someone convicted of murder for assisting their terminally ill brother's suicide a greater danger to society that someone like Bernie Madoff?
