Maybe the amendment was made to protect the people back then when the English tried to force to stay an English colony. Since then the right for a citizen to carry arms were not necessary. So this amendment should be changed to the situation the US is in now. They have no foreign power who they have to be protected of. At least not as a normal citizen. That is why you have a military. To protect you so you do not have to carry guns to protect yourself. So the US has been for a long time it is totally unnecessary to carry weapons because the US have the strongest military of the world. But with a political party who tries to make you be believe the government is tyranic then you might think you need a weapon. And that is a narrative used by the GOP donors from the weapon industry. Not only they are using lies to make carrying a gun is normal but their narratives also make people to fear their own government. As if they are the same as the English colonizers.

They block "gun reform' because they don't work. Furthermore,there are millions of responsible gun owners in the country. There are far more car accidents. The 630 mass shootings is a number to play on ignorance and fear of the people who don't actually think,and it works. They dont come out and say anything about "mass shootings" when they happen in inner cities across the country, but when it's in a church, mall , grocery store, or school, here they come with the large number of "mass shootings". They always conveniently leave out the fscf that all those places where these types of shootings happen are in "gun free zones". They will keep happening as long as you refuse to address the core issues, and a gun has nothing to do with that. Ban trucks, cars and SUVs as well then.

It's not the AR/AK it's the high capacity magazines that make it so deadly. A 5rd magazine in an AR makes it a mediocre small game hunting rifle. A 30-60 or 100rd magazine makes it a machine of mass murder. Ban high capacity magazines and everyone can still have their ARs to prance around waving their black rifles scaring small children and elderly civilians, and NOT violate their 2nd amendment!
