I have known for some time now that Trump clearly is not qualified because of encouraging insurrection. I know that. Most of us know that. It's not difficult to see. But SCOTUS is baffled. Weeks into months, and still mo ruling on something so evident.

To get at the heart of the matter, a very deep dive into the historical reasons behind the amendment is necessary. First, this was not a real insurrection. Look that definition up. Arms were NOT used by those protesting the vote counting. The only person killed that day was an unarmed female protester due to a trigger happy capitol police officer – who SHOULD be prosecuted for her murder.
2nd, the amendment was specifically designed to prevent those officers and others who fought in the civil war for the confederate side from becoming president or holding other high office. There is absolutely no real comparison to be had that is credible.
This so called 'expert' has failed to consider the context, and has not properly classified what happened that day; furthermore, the court processes are not concluded; in addition, unless the Supreme Court takes it up, there will be appeals as well. It's premature, and not even applicable in the circumstances of that day ad opposed to the civil war.

As a Democrat, it’s obvious to me the US Supreme Court will say states have a right to remove a candidate from the ballot in an upcoming federal presidential election because that usurper Trump is so obviously guilty of a federal crime that it is unnecessary for there to be a conviction, or a trial, or for charges to have been brought. Obviously, there was an insurrection. Maybe not a protest, probably not a riot, but definitely an insurrection. They completely took over all three branches of government that day. Plus it goes without saying that a state can decide questions of federal criminal culpability without a conviction being handed down by a federal court. I think the US Supreme Court would be overreaching if it does not say states can kick Trump off the ballot. And even if there wasn't an insurrection, everyone knows that if you say the word "insurrection" enough times, then an insurrection magically exists. You just have to have faith. And you can tell where the US Supreme Court is going with this one. You just have to listen to the oral arguments. The justices were very concerned that Trump might be allowed to be on the ballot because, of course, he is an insurrectionist within the meaning of section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which is self-executing, as you know.
