In fact, Congress who holds the power of deciding Presidential matters, has already acquitted him during impeachment. It was a Hail Mary at best for the corrupt left. Our Constitution is designed to protect federal title holders from 50 separate state lawsuits while executing their duties in office. If SCOTUS rules against President Trump, expect every GOP majority state to bounce Biden for Treason and not protecting the Southern Border.

Lawyers are focused on winning or losing the case before the Supreme Court based only on the facts of his inciting or being a part of the insurrection, or whether or not he was an officer of the government. But put all that aside and look at the clause that says, "giving aid and comfort to the insurrectionists is enough to disqualify someone for running for the presidency." Trump did that and continues to do so now. Why doesn't that get brought up in all of these discussions by the experts lawyers? It is a major part of the 14th amendment and that standing alone is enough to disqualify him.

Appellate courts make decisions of law. The finder of facts is a jury. This appellate court found Trump guilty of a crime without due process. Trump has not been found guilty of insurrection. The appellate court of Colorado should be ashamed of themselves.
There's no "waning trust" in the supreme court. This is a narrative manufactured by the left because the court is now dominated by conservative justices. There's no more distrust than when it was dominated by liberal judges. The only difference is in which side is dissatisfied with their rulings. What I hope comes out of this case more than anything is an assertion of the constitutional right to due process as guaranteed by the 5th, 6th, and even the 14th amendment which is the part of the constitution cited to justify keeping Trump off the ballot. Are we now at a point where it is no longer necessary to be proven guilty in court, but rather just summarily kicked off a ballot because a judge says you are guilty without any right to confront whatever evidence that judge, or worse yet a secretary of state, thinks makes them guilty? If this is allowed, there's nothing to stop this from happening to any candidate for any office from any party at any time. Just say they committed treason, no proof necessary, and boot them off the ballot. "But they're innocent" defenders will protest. Nope the secretary of state says you're a traitor and that's all the proof we need.

The Supreme Court has been faced with situations like this before. Brown vs Board of Education a case that had profound social and political consequences. CHief Justice Earl Warren guided the Court to a 9-0 decision. Starting with only 4 or 5 that even wanted to overturn Plessy, he managed to get all of them on board even thought the Constitutional basis was weak. I predict Roberts will do the same and Trump will lose 9-0. I do think though that each State will determine Trump's eligibility for themselves based on their own Election laws.

Trump would have to be tried by a jury and convicted of an insurrection before he could rightfully be taken off a ballot for insurrection. He has not yet been formally tried and convicted of that. The FBI said that there was no insurrection on January 6th. Plus the U.S. Senate already tried Trump and aquitted him of insurrection.
