It would seem to me that if Trump becomes the GOP nominee the election will become immediately lacking in Constitutional support. It simply cannot be reasonably inferred that a person facing a potentially disqualifying indictment could be considered a valid candidate for office. The Supreme Court may drag their feet until there is no more recourse. The further into this election cycle we get without it being asserted definitively that the charges against the former President are legitimate and must be decided before he could be considered eligible to be President, the closer we get to simply rolling the dice and hoping for the best with the future of our democracy.

I find it absolutely incredible, that the highest Court in the US (ergo the highest Court in what was once considered the ‘free world’), could take the view that Trump might be reasonably allowed to stand as a candidate for president, much less potentially be elected as, president of the United States, in light of his obvious criminality.
Have we ever seen a more toxic and corrupt judiciary, and thus a potential government, at least within the confines of the “free world”?

The Supreme Court of the United States will side with Colorado because they have too much to lose. They will do this in an act of self-preservation because they turned over Trump's tax and financial records to Congress which eventually found its way into the hands of the New York State attorney general. And Trump won't need an independent judiciary he will get rid of them as soon as he can and he will go after their heads and imprison them for what they did to him. I would like to say that for the sake of America this decision would come down to a legal decision but it's purely political.
If Trump is allowed to avoid the 14 Amendment rule in support of letting people vote instead of going by the constitution, then the rest of the Constitution can be ignored. That is eating away at the Constitution. Do we want that? That is doing what Trump is threatening when he becomes president.
