Mitch McConnell is ultimately responsible if American democracy falls. When the party system and the general political system fail to marginalise an authoritarian demagogue, then the courts become the last defense. So far with few exceptions the lower courts have held up remarkably well against the scarily prevalent anti-democratic movement in the United States. Shockingly this cannot be said about the Supreme Court whose fundamental purpose is to guard and perpetuate the constitution. This sacrosanct court now seems more than willing, almost eager, to forget its simple but 'holy' mission and get involved in politics. The same way that Donald Trump forgets that being president is not being king, the Supreme Court forgets that it serves the constitution. The narcissism of MAGA has spread to SCOTUS. This corruption of the highest court in the land began when Mitch McConnell corruptly blocked Obama’s supreme Court nominations. McConnell you did a bad thing, the fall of American democracy may be your reward. Ironically you probably don’t want Trump as dictator. Well, when you do bad things more bad things beyond your control will happen!
