I am a blue dog Democrat from Texas and have owned many guns and have used guns to safe guard myself and my family. The problem with the Second Amendment is it talks a well armed militia or you could say a National Guard per State. I was also a member of the National Guard and we had mucho weapons. A point in history is that we have lots of gun control along with laws about knives and bombs. We need to harden our society to the threat of the new world we find ourselves. Practical gun laws is as necessary as safety belts and airbags in cars. The good news about guns in America is that we Americans look like crazy gun happy nuts to the rest of the world. And that is a good thing in this violent world we live.

You know, as a lawyer you should do better than to classify shit as "lethal ammunition" considering all ammunition for firearms sold in gun stores is LETHAL. Thats the entire fucking point of the fucking weapon system. Instead of restricting legal, law abiding gun owners how about we implement testing and licensing for proficiency and saftey with the fucking weapons like we do cars? Not a hard fucking concept. Most states already require some form of weapon registration, how fucking hard would it be to implement a course that needs to be taken on firearms handling and safety? So sick of this "you dont need assault weapons" argument. Given the overreach of Law Enforcement and militarization of LEOs in the last decade and a half, the average citizen should be able to keep and maintain equal equipment. You cant have it both ways.

But way before i ever heard any controversy, reading each 😮amendment I intrpreted the 2nd amendment as parity between the government and the sovereign citizens from whhom the gkvernment should get its mandate and validity. Otherwise something worse than "…only outlaws…" happens: Only govrnments would own them. The preamble makes it clear the govern.ent should not be more, but less, powerful than the people. Any attempt to ban is disingenuous but one that ends their production.

The idea that there is tension here seems ridiculous. How can it be a well regulated militia if the states can't regulate it?
History and logic dictate that there is no constitutional right to bear arms outside of a well-regulated militia dedicated to protecting the existence of the state. Even if some nutbag ignores the foundational clause of the amendment, the "arms" of that time were muzzle loaded muskets – a low-velocity, inaccurate, single-shot rifle that took about a minute to reload.
You replace that with ANY modern rifle, even a pistol, and the Revolutionary War would have ended after a single devastating battle. Imagine: Even armed with nothing more than an average Glock pistol, Washington's army would have wiped out the Red Coats in minutes. Want more accuracy? Try a single-shot deer rifle, loaded in any fashion. Bang, dead Red Coat. Ten seconds later, bang, another one. They would never get within range to shoot back.
That second part – technical advancements is what makes the current interpretation so ridiculous. Even the most limited modern firearm is vastly superior to the ones used when the 2nd Amendment was written. The framers had no inkling what "arms" would come to mean after the inventions of rifling, interchangeable parts, waterproof ammunition, and then multiple rounds between reloading.
That is why, if you must concede a right to bear arms outside of a well-regulated militia, then it should be something the framers could at least relate to somewhat – a single shot weapon, ammo no more powerful than could take down a deer (without shredding the meat). Result: No more massacres.
