The LA court of 1868 said States can enforce sec 3 themselves when Watkins was disqualified. He was not convicted either. He was found to have 'engaged in' the rebellion. Sorta like courts have found as matter of fact that Trump 'engaged in' insurrection.

During the debate in congress on the proposed 14th Ammendment, the very question if Pres/etc are included, and in response the authors/proponents stated that the verbage after senate & rep office, concerning elected office or appointment, and def includes the office of Pres & VP. The fact they were trying to safeguard against Confederates losing the war but sitting in the Legislature would be even more an issue if they got elected to the highest office in the land. And the due process is included by ability to go thru state courts concerning appearance on election ballots, esp a state supreme court. This allows presentation and review of evidence, witnesses, etc.

How do you declare someone has engaged in insurrection without due process and criminal conviction. It seems insane that a state would have the ability to declare a high crime through a civil proceeding.
I will be writing his name in, there’s nothing they can do to stop me from voting for who I believe is the best choice to pull the country out of the nose dive/dumpster fire it’s in.
This will go to the Supreme Court and be overturned.
