Age discrimination is prohibited, so is the 35 yr old requirement also invalid? Can the constitution invalidate itself without an amendment, or does the express inclusion of something otherwise prohibited create an exception to the prohibition, again absent an amendment. I believe a core premise of legal interpretation is to avoid internal inconsistency.

I like Cenk very much but even I am not comfortable with a naturalized citizen being allowed to be president. They are definitely more likely to betray the country. I do not understand the Cenk thinks he can be POTUS if he is a naturalized citizen. The Constitution is clearly written in this regard; "natural-born citizen of the United States." His argument using Trump as an example does not hold water, because Trump is in legal limbo and the courts need to decide if the 14th Amendment applies to a non-convicted insurrectionist or prove he aided, gave comfort to convicted insurrectionists or swore an oath supporting an insurgent enemy. In the case of Colorado the Supreme Court of Colorado has found him guilty in violation of the 14th Amendment.
This “interview” is pitiful. I would say anyone donating for this campaign is quite delusional.

The Trump campaign has a clear case: they are not merely denying States' right to adjudicate this matter, they are disputing the legality of any ban on Trump's candidacy without a formal judgment, as he has not been formally convicted of any crime akin to insurrection. I think Cenk's citing analogy of the 14th Amendment (with respect to the meaning of the word "Equal") is weak. The difference with his case and the case on women's right, is that WOMEN were discriminated at statute. The authority of statute is subordinated to the authority of constitution. Hence, when the supreme court re-interpreted the 14th Amendment to extend equality to Women, the constitutional authority rendered the specific statute (which discriminates women) unconstitutional.
In Cenk's case however, the language of "discrimination" against foreign born naturalized citizen the right to run for president was codified in the constitution itself, not statute. So the analogy with the "Women's discrimination" does not hold.
At best, Cenk can argue his case basing on the expressed language in the constitution provision – [ Or a Citizen of the United States ] – to mean that the clause does provide for the same right (to hold the office of the US President) as a natural born Citizen.
As the constitution currently is written, like it or not YOU do not qualify to run, you don't have to like it, you can try and change it, but it is what it is, and you should not be allowed on the ballot in any state unless they change the constitution, our constitution has become like the bible people want to pick and choose what is relevant, like it's only a suggestion. If you don't like what it says then you advocate for change, but until that change it is what it is.

Cenk, I'm not legal scholar but it looks to me like the Constitution is clear on this issue, neither you or Trump can be on the ballot. Cenk cannot be on the ballot because he is not a "natural born citizen". Trump cannot be on the ballot because he "engaged in insurrection or rebellion". I do appreciate you testing that though. Honestly, I don't have a problem with that natural born citizen clause even though I also have to say I'd much rather Cenk was President than Trump or Biden. But I learned about this way back in the 1960s and that natural born citizen clause goes back to the original Constitution this Nation was founded on. And I do believe it's a good thing. As far as I know you can run for local offices, so it's not like you're entirely forbidden from a career in politics.
