I wonder if the problem with so much "official" dishonesty and its significant contribution to the diminished public availability of facts could be in some way corrected by incorporating into the various oaths of public office (and hopefully extended to those seeking elective office) could be amended to incorporate honesty in public utterances and one of the prerequisites for holding office in the first place. (Why, as the ultimate employers of those who seek public office, can the public not insist on honesty while seeking and holding office?) No, I don't want thought police, and the mechanism to enforce alleged violations would be challenging; but there is nothing in the Constitution's First Amendment free speech rights that necessarily must be read to say "we the people" cannot insist upon, as a condition of holding elective office, a higher standard that elected office seekers/holders take an oath to be truthful/honest in the things they say publicly. Then, a vigorous "free press" could hold the feet of the liars to the flame. What office seeker/holder, if challenged, would publicly declare they oppose being truthful in public statements?
Talking about the case and talking about the people working the case is the issue.

But most criminal defendants have pre-trial detention. Why is it bad for Trump, but just fine for everyone else?

What I want to know is how does traitor trump get to make political speeches outside the court but inside the court house with nobody shouting out something like traitor, liar, rapist, insurrectionist. So the court security must be keeping people either outside or quite inside. Is this not treating him differently.
