DeLauro, like most Democrats is completely ignorant about anything having to do with violent crime prevention. Like most Democrats, DeLauro has done nothing to lock up the criminals that actually commit the crimes, and keep them locked up. DeLauro, like most Democrats, believes that every tragedy merits a new law named for a dead child to punish innocent citizens for exercising their inalienable rights. How about laws that specifically target the guilty while leaving the innocent alone? That would actually make sense, and would lower the violent crime rate.
