I live in pgh. The cops don't want to show up for a burglary and risk their own lives. Maybe if there wasn't shootings on a daily basis. They're just letting the problems sort themselves out.

I live in Pittsburgh. It's crappy to hear it is "what they voted for." I surely did not. This punishes the people who did not support it AND the people who did. The city is a liberal cesspool for sure but corrupt politicians are to blame, not the people. It's kind of like Ukraine aid. People who do not support it are still affected by it but get to hear that is the politicians they elected. Just because your candidate who supports your values did not win, you still are living with the bad decisions. It takes a while to uproot your family, find a new job and sell your house and leave.
I know what you are talking about. I live in North Carolina outside of a small town, so we fall under the jurisdiction of the sheriff department. If you call them, they either do not show up or if they do show up, they refuse to do their job. They always have some lame excuse as to why they can't this or can't that, they have no obligation to protect you from crime as they are all reactive and show up after the fact. I no longer call them for anything.

live in Detroit here… and nonemergencies go to a nonemergency number where a live operator does take calls where the person on the phone is not in danger, so the cops can respond to much needed calls. ie don't send officers to calls where you car got broken into or you come home and your home has been broken into – these are insurance calls where you just need to access the damage and get a police report number. To help with this change I would say get better insurance, "protection" and get better community groups to help look out for each other .
Went to school in Pittsburgh for 5 years. After hearing this, this alum won't be going back.

The police are only minutes away when they hysterical. Women is on the phone. Their hours away when they concerned. Man is on the phone.
So, in my opinion, what's the difference? Simple Karen will not be there to cause me problems for a few hours every day. I can cope with that.
I hate the way you guys report on his. 1st Pittsburgh is more republican than democrat. (So blame yourself!) Secondly, there's not a lot of crime here, so chill! Thirdly, and most importantly Pittsburgh is very small, smaller than most ppl think, and most of the areas that tourists consider to be apart of Pittsburgh are NOT, infact they are a separate borough with their OWN SEPARATE POLICE STATIONS. Ex. Swissvale, Turtlecreek, East Pittsburgh, Forest hills, North Versailles, Squirrel Hill, Braddock, etc. These are all separate boroughs with their own separate police depts That are NOT a part of Pittsburgh but considered to be by tourists.
I worked in the ER in Pittsburgh for several years. I knew it was time to leave when we were treating victims of stabbings, shootings, etc from the same parking garage I was renting from. Pittsburgh is becoming the next Philadelphia! Sadly, most will just pretend everything is fine. Wake up people!
