The media, print and electronic, is awash with reports of the humanitarian crisis resulting from the Ukraine war Israeli/Palestine conflict, and rightly so.
Hold on a minute; what about Ireland’s humanitarian crisis, the continuing excess deaths of 17.8% (October 2023)? Why no reporting in the media or utterances of outrage by the national legislature?
A few politicians have superficially expressed the recognition of excess deaths, but why no comprehensive debate or a commission of enquiry?
Justifiably, calls are being made for a ceasefire in the Ukraine and Middle East war.
But why the glaring absence of media demands and from politicians for a cessation of the rollout of the most apparent suspected cause of excess deaths in Ireland? Why are there no proclamations of concern on the national issue of much more immediate importance than Von der Leyen, climate change, food security, global poverty or immigration?
